Balmain x Evian collaboration: Sustainability and luxury united in harmony
The collaboration between Balmain and evian began in 2022 with the launch of the Balmain x evian haute couture dress and a limited-edition bottle. Inspired by the shared commitment of both historic French brands in the pursuit of fundamental and sustainable transformations, the new collection focuses on the possibility of a sustainable fashion world under the distinctive slogan "Together, change is beautiful."
The importance of sustainable materials in luxury fashion is becoming increasingly evident, and this collaboration demonstrates how creativity and ecological awareness can coexist in harmony. The collection uses a wide variety of environmentally friendly materials and processes, such as GOTS-certified organic cotton, sustainable viscose, and various recycled materials to create a broad range of garments and accessories, including swimsuits, t-shirts, hoodies, bomber jackets, trucker jackets, and jeans.
Balmain's creative director, Olivier Rousteing, believes that the future of luxury fashion is clear, and he wants to drive sustainability and innovation in the industry while maintaining the brand's heritage and craftsmanship. Rousteing sees the collaboration with evian as an experimentation lab and believes that fashion can be relevant tomorrow if significant changes are adopted in the way it is produced.
This second collaboration is a testament to how luxury fashion can embrace sustainable practices without compromising style and quality. In the words of Olivier Rousteing: "My partnership with Evian is pushing sustainability forward, elevating fashion to the next level away from superficiality. It reminds us that the planet is suffering, but we can love our fashion shows and our editorials. But the reality is that we must be aware that our industry can exacerbate the system, and we must be cautious and conscious. We need to change. No fight is easy. But we have to start somewhere, and my collaboration with evian is the beginning of a new era for fashion."
